Our plan is for this page to change weekly and sometimes daily.  As we read and skim through books, we will give you our thoughts about them.  The books may or may not be new.
We welcome your submissions, too!

Yes, many of us have read this book now and we know that parts of it are not theologically correct or in line with the Bible's teaching.   However, it is NOT a textbook or the basis for our beliefs.  It is a work of fiction.  Look at it as a sermon illustration.  The overall message of God's love, redemption, forgiveness, and our daily walk with HIM is extremely powerful!

Why did the author use such personifications of God?  For more insight into his thinking "way outside the box", go to www.windrumors.com and listen to the interviews.  My favorite information on this is when you go to the first u-tube interview on the above page - - - After calling up the u-tube interview, go to the right-hand side of the page and click on Atlanta LIVE interview with Atlanta Roddy, Part I. - - - -and of course, there will be a part 2 & 3.  His book will seem mild after you hear about his real life.

This is a great book to read!  Each chapter is a parable by Jesus, then some background information and then a prayer for the Lord to teach us to hear what He is saying to us.  The chapters are short and easily stand alone so it could be used as a devotional book for 14 days.  I look forward to reading more of his books.

This was a very good story about events that definitely could have happened to a person with a visual handicap.  It gave insight into their struggles and mindset following an accident.  By the end of the story, I definitely loved my dog more!

The FBC administrative assistants are doing the video/workbook study entitled Power of a Praying Woman.  Someone suggested I read Stormie's biography.  It is WONDERFUL to read testimonies of how our God can heal ANYTHING we encounter in life due to mistreatment we have received from others.

I just bought this for myself and am excited about what I see.  I have The Reese Chronological Bible but believe I am going to enjoy this one even more.  It contains pictures and comments of various items that would have been indigenous to Bible times.  Time lines, maps, and time capsules of world history can be found throughout the book.  At the end of the book, you will find a topical index, glossary, and concordance.
If you like to read a story in the order of events as they unfolded, this is a Bible you might like to consider.  Since I did not get saved until I was an adult, it still fascinates me that Biblical and world events actually occurred simultaneously and not as separate entities.

Lynn Austin's Newest Release!  She is one of our fiction readers' favorite authors.  This is a very good story - - I felt it a bit unbalanced because so many pages were given to describing their ocean trip.  However, it gave a feel for what immigrants really encountered.  The story was intriguing and drew you into the characters lives.

I have to be honest and say that I did not finish it all - - because I am reading too many other things at the same time!  However, I wanted to read it since many others have recommended it.  I, too, would suggest a person at least skimming through it - - no matter how many years you have been married!  There are good reminders that will enhance your lives together.

These are from the "Sisters in Time" Series for ages 8 - 12.  The persons are fictional but the facts are accurate.  The story lines are great.  We have a couple of young people reading them now.  We will give their opinions  in a couple of weeks.

 - - - - and here is the rest of the story . . . The Sisters in Time Series  are actual reprints of The American Adventure Series  but have been rewritten to appeal to the young female readers.  Basically each book has had a young girl added and prominently featured in each story.  She is either a friend or relative of the main character in the original book.
They are still great books and a very interesting read.  This was clever marketing on the part of Barbour Publishing.  I did not catch what they had done but one of our homeschool moms recognized it when she read the first book.

This was written by a Christian zookeeper.  He tells actual behind-the-scene stories that happened at a major zoo.  Then these events are given a spiritual application.  This is a fun, easy read.  If you need to give a devotional talk, one of these stories might work well for you.

If I could only own ten boooks, this would be in that collection.  Gracia Burnham puts any problem in perspective while remembering her time with her husband at the hands of terrorists in the jungles of the Philippines.  It really is an encouraging book even though it touches on some difficult times.
